The Mariners Competitive Pathway
The Pictou County Mariners competitive program is designed to help swimmers progress step by step as their skills, confidence and experience grow.
Swimmers begin in our Nova Tech program, where they progress through Bronze, Silver and Gold levels by achieving the Nova Tech time standards.
Once a swimmer has achieved the Gold level, the coach will discuss whether they are ready to move into the Age Group program or would benefit from more time strengthening their technique before making the transition.
Every swimmer's journey begins with developing strong skills and technique.
Our goal isn't to move swimmers through the program as quickly as possible, but to make sure they develop the skills, technique and confidence they need to succeed at the next level.
Nova Tech
Bronze Medal:
100 IM in 2:15.00 or faster
Silver Medal:
100 IM in 2:00.00 or faster

200 IM in 3:55.00 or faster
200 Free in 3:40.00 or faster
AA - Age Group
AA Competitions are available to all athletes who graduate from NovaTech.
AAA - Age Group
AAA Competitions are available to athletes who meet the qualifying standards as follows:
12 & Under
Option 1: ​​​​​​​200m or 400m IM plus one other 200m event or longer
Option 2: Any three 200m events or longer
13-14
Any 2 (two) qualifying times
15 & Over
Any 1 (one) qualifying time
